A Recognition of Excellence

For everyone involved in the project, this award is particularly meaningful.

Now in their 28th year, the Sussex Heritage Trust Awards are among the county’s most respected honours for architecture, construction and conservation. They celebrate projects that combine outstanding design, exceptional workmanship and thoughtful responses to their surroundings, while encouraging the use of traditional craftsmanship alongside modern construction techniques.

Every project is independently assessed against strict judging criteria, including:

  • Quality of construction

Delivering a Thoughtfully Designed Waterfront Home

As the main contractor, LGM Developments worked closely with Randell Design Group and the wider project team to deliver a new waterfront home that responds carefully to its sensitive coastal setting. The project involved demolishing the existing deteriorating property and constructing a new home designed to sit more naturally within its surroundings. A carefully selected palette of natural cedar cladding and pale brick helps soften the building’s visual impact, while indigenous planting and considered landscaping strengthen the relationship between the home and its coastal environment.

Built for Long-Term Performance

Building on an exposed waterfront location demanded exceptional precision, durability and attention to detail throughout the construction process.

To create a home that is both comfortable and sustainable for years to come, the project incorporates:

  • Enhanced insulation
  • Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR)
  • Air source heat pumps
  • High-performance energy-efficient building systems

These features combine to deliver outstanding long-term comfort while reducing environmental impact.

Architecture Designed Around the Landscape

The completed property benefits from a carefully considered internal layout that strengthens the connection between the home and its surrounding landscape.

Every element of the architecture and interior has been designed to work together, creating a seamless relationship between indoor living spaces and the unique coastal setting.

Built on Collaboration

While awards are always appreciated, what makes this recognition especially rewarding is that it reflects the values that underpin every project we undertake.

At LGM Developments, we believe exceptional homes are built through:

  • Strong relationships
  • Trust across the entire project team
  • Attention to detail
  • An uncompromising commitment to quality

Those principles shaped Spinney Cottage from the earliest conversations through to completion, with architects, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors and our own site team working together to deliver every detail to the highest possible standard.

As a family-run business with more than 40 years of construction experience, we are passionate about creating homes that endure.

Recognition from the Sussex Heritage Trust reinforces our commitment to thoughtful construction, respect for local character and craftsmanship that contributes positively to Sussex’s built environment for generations to come.
