Coastal House Major Refurbishment

Coastal House Major Refurbishment

This project began in September 2010 with a completion date arriving in early June 2011. An interesting total refurbishment, carrying the the original building through to the 21st Century whilst also retaining the original lines and facade of the property in its original Art Deco form.

Situated directly on the beach, the internal layout and high quality design captures natural daylight through every angle and gives off strong perceptions of space and open air with stunning views of the South coast. The property also incorporates a highly desirable full sized roof terrace at second floor level laid in Iroka timber decking.

Following the complete gutting out of the building, works took place creating a large spiral staircase built in a 'turret-style' circular masonry wall which runs from ground level all the way up to the second floor with first floor access. The staircase acts as a main feature of the property internally, with the turret receiving natural light through aesthetically designed glass bricks and 'port-hole' style windows. The entire internal building is finished in light colours with a second spiral staircase to the rear giving better access. Externally the building is completed in a painted white insulated render system which helps define its sharp lines and cements it as an Art Deco property, whilst offering protection from the elements in its exposed position.
